Del Campo High School, Science and Media Commons Building, New Design

WHAT WE DID

San Juan USD, Del Campo High School, Science and Media Commons Building, New Design, Fair Oaks, CA

The newly constructed, $24 million, progressive design-build Science and Media Commons building at Del Campo High School offers innovative classrooms for physics, chemistry, earth science, biology, and AP environmental science. The 34,000 square-foot two-story building features ten state-of-the-art science classrooms, six teacher preparation rooms, and facilities for both staff and students. The project also includes a high-bay, multi-media Commons designed to encourage student collaboration and showcase high school academia. The steel building has a Special Concentric Braced Frame lateral system with concrete over metal deck 2nd floor and bare metal deck roof. Building drifts were limited to allow direct attachment of the exterior light-gauge walls.
